How to Take Care of Your Protective Style
First of All, WE WANT INCHES HUNNY!! Kinki by Nature Protective Styles prides ourself on health and integrity of our client's hair. When installing protective styles, our priority is to promote healthy hair growth and maintain a healthy scalp. I pray these tips help and I hope you see a difference in your hair after having our protective styles installed. That being said let's get into some dynamic tips.
Tip #1 Cleanse Your Scalp. It is important to cleanse your scalp every 1-2 weeks while having a protective style because your scalp is exposed. If your pores are clogged your hair follicles will not be able to receive the oil and nutrients needed to retain hair growth.
Tip#2 Keep Your Hair Moisturized. Moisturizing your hair & scalp is the MOST important thing when having a protective style. We recommend using a water based leave-in conditioner. Our hair LOVES water, please mist your kinks daily.
Tip #3 Protect Your Hair at Bedtime. While giving your hair a break it is important to invest in a satin or silk scarf or bonnet. If a bonnet is not your speed, we suggest investing in a satin/silk pillowcase. Cotton will suck the moisture out of your hair which will aid in hair loss.
Tip #4 Be Gentle When Taking the Style Down. Please take your time when removing your protective style to prevent breakage. It is important to add extra moisture before removing your style. This will give you the right amount of moisture to manipulate your hair follicles. After your style is removed gently detangle your hair with your fingers and follow up with a detangling brush or comb. Please remember that your hair sheds everyday, so it is perfectly normal to experience hair shedding in this process because your hair has been bound up for a period of time. Shampoo and deep condition your hair after removing the stye.
****We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before installing another protective style on your beautiful kinks****
